Monique Montgomery

Monique Montgomery was born in Paris and raised as an American. From the beginning, the business of beauty was her legacy. Her father owned a department store and a chain of designer boutiques. She eventually became a fashion director producing theatrical fashion shows years before they were considered the norm. Sometimes she said "the clothes were too far from perfect, so the challenge was to frame them in breathtaking tableaus." Somewhere along the way her mother (a former hat model) and her mother's friends began relying on her unique sense of style to work magic on them. Then New York beckoned. She was hailed a "fashion shrink" by New York magazine. Hence the profession of wardrobe consulting was born.

Shopping is zen for Monique. Every day is an exercise or rather an excuse for her to style herself and her clients. She is a whirling dervish of aesthetic knowledge with an arsenal of fashion skills. She pops in and out of their lives wherever they live and whenever needed. Often they are the very first to see her newest unveiled Vintage Made Modern creations. Mixing vintage clothing with contemporary pieces has always been part of her equation for creative dressing. Her joy and her spontaneity of it all has never diminished. "True style," she says, "is having the personal courage to seize a moment and dress it."
